Our Mission

Empowering African Women to Lead in Climate Innovation

At Build Her A Future Africa (BHAF), our mission is to create access for African women in the circular economy. To position women especially those with disabilities or in underserved areas, not only as beneficiaries but as trailblazers of Africa’s green and inclusive transformation.

We provide women—especially those in underserved communities and those living with disabilities—with hands-on training, business skills, and access to markets, funding, and technology in four key sectors:

Waste management, Renewable Energy, AgriTech and Precision Management.

By 2030, we aim to train over 60,000 women across five strategic cities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Gambia and Togo supporting the creation of at least 500 women-led small businesses.

Through strong partnerships, innovation, and inclusive programs, we’re building a future where African women are driving sustainable growth, creating jobs, and transforming their communities.

The Purpose Behind Build Her A Future

To fight the pervasive impact of gender inequality and economic disparities in the circular economy. This 5 years project which is implemented in Nigeria, Gambia, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) provides a strategy for rapid, large-scale and coordinated action towards women empowerment in ensuring knowledge and skills transfer, business sector management, personal development and access to funds & market. Through Technology, Build Her a Future empowers women in its core sectors namely Waste management, Renewable energy and Aggrotech precision and Management.

Across Africa, women face systemic gender inequalities that limit their economic potential—especially in emerging, high-impact sectors like the circular economy.

  • Limited Access to Resources: Women entrepreneurs are 50% less likely than men to access financing, land, or technical support to grow their businesses.

  • Underrepresentation in Innovation: In green and tech sectors, women remain largely absent from leadership, decision-making, and ownership roles.

  • Informal and Unstable Work: While many women work, 70% are trapped in informal jobs with little opportunity for financial growth or stability.

  • Double Exclusion for Women with Disabilities: They face both gender-based and ability-based discrimination, with less than 2% benefiting from current empowerment programs.
